About the Program

This course material was originally developed by David Bearman, MD, a physician with over 55 years of clinical experience. During his career, he has advised state, county, and city-level governments on drug abuse and policy, including serving on former California Governor Ronald Reagan’s Inter-agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and as the Medical Director of CenCal Health (formerly the Santa Barbara Regional Health Authority). Dr. Bearman has studied and practiced cannabinoid medicine since 2000, has written extensively about cannabis use in medical practice, and has served as an expert witness in cases involving cannabis use and driving.

This course was refined for use in education by Maria Pettinato, RN, PhD, who teaches about cannabis in clinical practice at the Seattle University College of Nursing. It was expanded to include research about cannabinoids and specific disease states and symptoms by Carolina Nocetti, MD, whose Brazillian team of physicians peer-reviewed and revised the material, which was edited by longtime cannabis patient and editor Angela Bacca, MBA.
